A clear blue sky
This is to announce the completion of what became a long, eventually satisfying project.
Two and a half years ago, when I was in a really bad place, I wrote what was probably my only sad poem; a poem that ended on a depressed note. Usually my poetry is about less grim (less emotional?) themes, and ends in optimism. For as long as it has existed, it has been a burr in my side. It always felt unfinished, and unsatisfactory for its tone, and yet in my eyes, it was some of the best, most honest poetry I had written.
Then, a few days ago, as I completed twenty four years on the face of the earth, I felt I could finally fit the missing piece into it, and once I started, I could finish a second, complimentary poem in barely an hour.
"A clear blue sky" is now a two-part poem. The first, written in April 2002, is "Demise, Requiem". The missing piece, written on my birthday is "Renascence, Reprise". You can download it in MS Word format here.
It ends on a happy note. The circle is complete, and all is as it should be.
