On Turning Three

Today I turned three. Professionally, I mean...

Three years to the day on a job (the same job all this time, albeit spent playing a myriad of very different roles).

So here's some temporal statistics:

Two months in the latest role.
Fourteen months in Buffalo.
Three years of working/ paying my own way...
Four years as an 'Engineer' (the quotes are important).
Eight years from entering Engineering college.
A decade spent (poof!) after school...
Eleven years past the first crush acted upon.
Thirteen years of visiting 'the Hill'.
Fifteen years of tolerating/ educating Nirat and Sohail! (Good grief!)
Sixteen years of knowing the truth about birds and bees (and ref: educating above).
Eighteen years of Agnosticism (the first seven spent as a quasi-pseudo-Atheist).
Twenty-two years from commencing formal education.
Almost twenty-five years of potty training...

What do I have to show for it, you ask? Well I don't use diapers any more... It isn't much, but ask my mum - its a huge relief...

And then there is this quick summary of what I learnt in my three years in IT (and it'll not move very high up Maslow's hierarchy):

Coffee: Highest Good

Drink lots of it, with the first cup entering your system long before any work needs to be done. Converse of this axiom: Don't drink so much that you get acidity.

Food: immaterial

Junk rocks! So long as it fills your tummy and doesn't come back out the wrong way, you can eat stryofoam and subsist.

Rent: Sucks

Deposits are high, landlords are buggers, room-mates are generally pigs, and the guy that joined a year after you will probably buy a 2BHK a year before you finally give up on renting a place, and you will shell out twice as much to buy the apartment next to his.

Consumerism: Rules

Gives you everything you need, social standing, false sense of satisfaction, goodies and toys, credit card statements, debt economics, marketability.

Blogging: Vents

Keeps you sane, makes you wackier. Doesn't make you very unfrustrated - but wake up and smell the misery - you're in IT now. :)

Peace... Out!
